Sports and Leisure Activities
Our family holiday villa is perfect base from which to enjoy extensive range of sports and leisure activities that Portugal's Western Algarve has to offer. Long sunny summers and mild winters make the area one of Europe's premier golf destinations. There are over twenty golf courses located within a hour's drive.

Vila Pomba is close to the Parque Natural da Costa Vicentina making this area a paradise for wildlife. Many birds can be seen in area, including hoopoes, azure winged magpies and bee eaters. Migrating species can also be seen at certain times of year.

The countryside is ideal for walking and rambling. Equestrian activities and mountain biking are available locally.

Lagos marina is the centre for all water based activities. These include big game fishing, dolphin watching, sailing and tours to explore the caves around Lagos.

From a historical aspect Sagres is focal point for Henry the Navigator. Monchique has been a spa town since Roman times and Roman remains can be seen at a variety of places along the coast, particularly at Praia da Luz where the remains of a Roman villa can be found but they are in danger of being claimed by the sea.

Amenities
Lagos is the nearest town which offers a wide range of shops, banking facilities, cinema and restaurants.

There are three supermarkets in Lagos. There is also a well stocked supermarket which caters well for English and German customers at Budens approximately five minutes drive from Vila Pomba.

Burgau and Salema are two nearby fishing villages with a good choice of beach bars, bars, restaurants, and shops selling local produce, crafts and wines.
